Bank of America is scheduled to report third-quarter earnings before the opening bell Tuesday. Bank of America signaled in July that a rebound in net interest income was coming in the second half of this year.

Analysts expect Bank of America to report $6.1 billion of net income, down from $7.8 billion a year ago. Net interest income is expected to drop to $14 billion from $14.4 billion a year ago, on a generally accepted accounting principles, or GAAP, basis.
