Mother Nature is shaking up heavy rain and breezy winds in this weekend's meteorological cocktail. But before too long, it will go dry.

The first atmospheric river of the season will bring widespread rain and snow to higher terrain in Washington.

Power outages are continuing across much of Western Washington following a windy Friday night with the season’s first atmospheric river event.As of 9 a.m. on Saturday, 15,839 customers across the state were reportedly without power according to the electric providers tracking outages.

Western Washington can expect heavy rain this weekend and for the foreseeable future as La Niña continues to develop, according to NOAA.

An atmospheric river heading for the Pacific Northwest is going to bring wet and windy weather to western Washington starting on Friday.
