"Girlfriend" singer Matthew Sweet has suffered a "debilitating" stroke that cut short his tour with Hanson this fall.

Singer-songwriter Matthew Sweet suffered a debilitating stroke while on tour in mid-October, it was revealed on Tuesday, when a representative for his management company posted a fundraising appeal on GoFundMe to support his recovery.

Singer Matthew Sweet is “on a long road to recovery” after suffering a stroke. Sweet’s manager, Russell Carter, said the 60-year-old performer had “a debilitating stroke” in Toronto, Canada on Oct. 12 while on tour with pop rock band Hanson.
