An Air India flight from Mumbai to London Heathrow has become the latest target for a string of hoax threats against Indian carriers. Flight AI129 was approaching the Essex coast after a nine-and-a-half flight from the Indian city. It appeared to be descending for a normal landing at Heathrow.

RAF fighters were scrambled to a flight to Heathrow after a bomb threat was sent to an airline on social media. The Royal Air Force scrambled RAF Quick Reaction Alert Typhoon fighter aircraft on Thursday, with a “sonic boom” heard over Norfolk as the jets reached supersonic speeds.

Earlier on Wednesday, seven flights of IndiGo, SpiceJet and Akasa received similar bomb threats. Prior to that, nearly a dozen flights operated by Indian carriers received similar threats on Monday and Tuesday.

Over 30 hoax bomb threats have raised a matter of concern for flight operators and security staff. Flights that received the threats were IndiGo flight from Delhi and Mumbai to Istanbul, from Jodhpur to Delhi and Vistara's flight from Udaipur to Mumbai.

No bomb has been found so far, according to security officials; this is the latest in a series of bomb threats received by various airlines on domestic and international routes.
