I am planning a trip to ride the train on horseshoe curve and visit, etc. I live in Lebanon, PA and would appreciate advice. I seen you could ride the Amtrak from Johnstown to Altoona and return. I was thinking of driving to Johnstown and riding train to Altoona and then back to Johnstown. Do they have places to park a car for the day, etc. What are other ideas. I am planning to do this in March, April, or May. Thank you.

Does it makes sense to visit during the closure due to the current pandemic ?

The top has reopened. However you have to climb steps to the top. The lift is closed.
Q:
Are pets allowed
A:
Yes, on the observation deck, but not the museum
